He is known for his aggressive batting style and previously held the record of the century most fast ODI in 37 deliveries. He also has the distinction of having played the highest number of six in the history of ODI cricket and the longest ever hit six in the history of cricket. Afridi is considered a better batsman bowling player and it has taken 48 test and more than 350 in ODIs. Afridi is currently third in the list of maker’s pedestrian incorporated leaders in the Twenty20 format behind Saeed Ajmal and Umer Gul of Pakistan taking 73 wickets in 70 matches. Shahid Afridi has signed to play in Sydney Thunder at Big Bash Twenty20 League of Australia. In June 2009 Afridi took over the captaincy of Younus Khan's Twenty20 and it was later appointed Captain ODI Cup Asia 2010. In his first match as Captain ODI against Sri Lanka scored a century but Pakistan still lost by 16 runs. Then, also took over the test captaincy but he resigned after a party in office citing lack of form and ability to play test cricket at the same time he announced his retirement from tests. He retained the captaincy limited in overs form of the game and led the team in the World Cup 2011. In May 2011, after Pakistan in 34 ODIs Afridi was replaced as captain.

Conditional retirement (present)

Afridi May 30 announced his conditional retirement from international cricket in protest against his treatment by the PCB. The condition on his return was that it will replace the Board. The PCB suspended central contract of Afridi imposed a fine of 4.5 million rupees ($ 52.300) and revoked its certificate of no objection (NOC) which allowed Afridi playing for Hampshire. Afridi filed a petition in the Sindh High Court to revoke the sanctions. On 15 June Afridi withdrew his request when an agreement out of court and the PCB revived her with. When the PCB central contracts were renewed in August Afridi is ceased to have effect. In October he retired from his retirement as Ijaz Butt had been replaced as President of the Board of coordination. Two weeks after its announcement Afridi was included in the Pakistan squad to face Sri Lanka in three ODIs and one T20I. In November 2011 Afridi became the only cricket player to score a half century and take five land on two occasions separated in ODIs. Afridi accomplished this feat in the fourth ODI against Sri Lanka which helped Pakistan to ensure one day series. Also became the first person to score 50 of its 50 international T20 (he is the one who has played 50 T20Is starting from July 9, 2012). Afridi has the more player of the match with 7 Awards one over Sanath Jayasuriya and Kevin Pietersen are both tied in second place with 6.In 2013 during the first ODI against the West Indies in Guyana match Afridi finished with figures of 7/12 the second best all time ODI bowling figures.

Style of play

His general style of batting is very aggressive and attack oriented and has earned him the nickname "Boom Boom Afridi". On the other hand seven centuries more ODI fast all time Afridi has produced three of them. From May of 2013 which has a 114 of 53 career ODI strike rate per 100 balls, the third tallest in the history of the game. He hits many six long and high favoring directly down the ground or over midwicket. His shot is a transverse movement hit next to a ball outside stump leg. However, his aggressive style increases your risk of leaving and he is one of the most inconsistent batsmen in cricket. This is reflect in the fact that he is the only player to score more than 7000 ODI runs at one average of less than 25 Afridi is the only player in the world who has scored 1,000 runs and 50 windows in the T20 format of the game. Afridi has moved over the batting order and this lack of consistency has made it difficult for seat. In the Indian subcontinent where the ball rapidly loses its shine it prefers to open the batting but elsewhere prefer to bat at number six.

Having started as a fast bowler player Afridi decided to start spinning bowling once was told that he was launching. He modelled himself in Pakistan pierna hilandero Abdul Qadir. Afridi began his career mainly as a bowling player however after scoring the fastest century in his ODI maiden innings more was expected of him with the bat. He is considered a better batsman bowling player. While he is known for his aggressive batting he is also a pierna hilandero hand capable of producing a good mix of portillo taking balls. He has more than 350 international doors most of which are in the ODI format. Although his ball actions is the leg break his arsenal also includes breaking conventional shutdown and a 'fast' that he can deliver in the style of a medium pacer achieving speeds of 130 km / h (81 mph). The bowls at a high speed for rotation control which results in less time, and relying more on variations in speed. From time to time does get a bouncer to a hitter which is very rare that a player's bowling spin.
